Action Opportunity: BLM Lease Sale
On Tuesday February 16, 2016 the Bureau of Land Management is planning to auction leases to 45,700 acres* of Utah public lands to oil and gas exploration.
*This notice includes the parcels previously scheduled for leasing at the November 17, 2015 auction (http://on.doi.gov/1n2qcdF)
Action: 8:00 AM, Salt Palace in Salt Lake City
More details will be posted as they come available here.
Bring your visions of an alternative future and pictures (copies) of your children, grandchildren, and/or of those people, landscapes, and species you wish to see protected in a future world. We will use these to create ‘bidding paddles’ for a better future.
At 8:45am sharp those who choose to do so will be entering the auction to witness, or remaining outside to sing songs and share stories.
We desperately need to keep oil and gas reserves in the ground to prevent catastrophic climate change. We have signed along with 195 other countries the first-ever universal global climate agreement. Leasing public land to expand the fossil fuel industry directly conflicts with our federal commitment to reduce emissions.
